Does anyone know if the y bracket can be taken out whilst the engine is in the car or is it best to wait till engine comes out at some time? just its really pissing me off, the last two jobs i've been doing have been bloody nightmares with it still in! Mad and i want it gone.

I tried earlier in the year when replacing starter motor and after an hour of fiddling about I was still no nearer to getting it out, so I just bolted it back on with only 2 bolts, so its easier to take off in the future, but definately take it off if you ever take your engine out.

Well it was a nice day today, so decided to finally do the y bracket, as I had a starter to fit as well. Well it definitely lived up to its name of being a right bitch! spent 3 hours getting it out to get to the starter and 10 mins changing it.
just got to put everything back that I had to move out the way for the y bracket, which is now on my scrap pile!
