Anyone watch car sos?

One of my friends were submitted and thr show took on the car as a project. Guy came Germany last year with us in a red mazda 3mps and helped rebuild my dizzy to get me home.

Well he owns a Renault 5gtt which was in a sad state of affairs, however over the year he's been buying every part he can for a concourse restoration, even sourced a brand new steering wheel from Renault for £300, among other rare bits. However been suffering a kidney condition and on heavy meds which has prevented him from working on the car

The show came on took the car away and have restored it as close to factory spec as possible, even sourcing some old school hard walled mitchelin tyres. We had the unveiling at our friends work,x which is JD classics in maldon (which is an amazing place on its own) show have a few teething problems to sort out on the car but Ben is already looking forward to bringing thr can along on our next European trip.

Few pics to follow

I've always been dubious the guys know what's going on, but he didn't have a clue, so much so he was still buying parts 2 days before the car was unveiled.  Car was moved to a lock up due to building works soon to beguin.

Great programme, watched quite a few.
Still find it hard to believe the timescale they get things done in...

Had a meet at JD classics a couple of years ago, on one of their open days, with the Triumph Stag. Really worth a visit.

I'm a big fan of car SOS and met Fuzz at Stoneleigh during a classic car show,
He's a real gent and quite tall, he looks short in SOS cos Tim is like 6ft7 or something.
During my teen years i was a big fan of PWEI and he was the drummer in the band,
"Def, def, def, def con, def con 1" classic tune!

Another good show is Wheeler Dealers,
Eventually one the shows'll get round to doing a GTIR one day....

New series is going to be shown in March and this is going to be the 5th episode so around april/may time. Was filmed in the new workshop, which fuzz has actually opened a new body shop for classic restorations called to-ta classics ( http://www.to-ta.co.uk/about-to-ta/ ) and the are also begining todo breakfast meets to see some sos cars and just chat with fans of the show.

Times are slightly exaggerated they had the R5 around 5 weeks but we're doing 3 cars at the same time as one has been with them 3 months already it was that bad. The 5 also had to be taken away after filming with a list of bits to finish and fit. One eine typical on the R5 and that is the perc fan stopped working

The show really do an amazing job in the time frame they have. although some bits are staged and in this case the car wasnt 100% complete come the unvailing. Infact the car failed its mot and was over heating and ben couldnt find gear all the time (thats why when he drives off at the end we all cheer as he finally found a gear and pulled off)at the filming.  as the show was moving on they sent the car off to be looked at by gt spares.  These fuckers have had the car sat in a field by the looks of thing from nov until end of march and thryve just knocked it back together with no care and under neath it has surface rust on suspension parts and floor and not been great with after care.

Few of the boys here have met ben and he like most of us genuienly loves car. But for him its rebuilding cars (hes also rolled his sleeves up and worked on my R,even while we was out in germany and it broke down). What you see on camera is what you get with him and although hes my friend i still feel he was very worthy of such a good cause.  Hes  relapsed again the past 2 months and balloned right up due to the medication hes on so cant even fit in the drivers seat at the moment. But hes hoping to take the car to battlesbridge classic show at the end of the month
