Radio reception is terrible and i don't have the original aerial mast anymore but i have tried 3 masts now so it can't be a mast fault. Anyone know if the aerial base is a 12v powered version without taking the roof lining down to check. Thinking possibly if it's powered i haven't connected the feed into the radio loom.

Definitely not a powered base.
Try checking continuity of the coax - particularly that it's earthed at the aerial end.

I'm no expert but if all else fails maybe its the head unit or the antenna wiring, if its worn or corroded. Can other wiring that has been installed also affect the signal?

Had a look at that one nomad but it's smb connector. Would need a coaxial one as i'm still living in the dark ages hehe.

I've only ever had the radio on an amplifier so not sure what it would be like without. I do have another radio in my sunny i could try at the weekend. I did after alot of looking buy one of those inline powered coaxial looms if it wasn't a powered base as it was only a few quid see what that does but it is annoying.

Does anyone know if the standard aerial base has any funny hole shapes if i was to try and fit another replacement aerial if all else fails

Thanks guys

Don't think it's powered my Rs all been ok but one of the ones I have at the min is crap reception so I fitted this and it's still crap. Yet these have worked fine in 2 other Rs. Never looked into it fully but agree it's annoying I get reception in places but it's shit

I taped up the ground on the coaxial until i get a meter on it. Works better now but alittle crackle from no ground, if i turn the the ignition off there's no crackle so needs a good ground.
