Whats the diameter?
Best case youve spun a rod shell,
Worst case you've spun a big end shell.
If its a big end shell, i reckon damage like that will mean a new block, and like Pete said, would sound like an 80's diesel.

If it's the big end the crank will be scrap

Luckily this is a spare engine, i will have to strip it down over winter to investigate a little more.

Assume it been left in sump then after some investigation/tinkering as if found that in sump you would soon see where came from as a rod would be hanging off :-D
spun bearing in rod means rod is scrap & so is crank if journals beyond a regrind
Spun mains means new block, you can dick about with caps & line boring but never worth hassle if can get a decent block easily . Needs proper good looking at as had big failure possibly .

Fingers crossed the block and crank can be salvaged, Smile

Proper engine machinist can save a lot, line honing journals is skilled work & not many could it it to high enough standard want bother, cranks can be ground .25 & can go .50 but hard get bearings .50
with cost of machining, crank hardening treatment and ordering custom oversize/undersize bearings it way better pick up more junk 54C's and salvage what good .
Good spares getting harder come across though so finding proper engine machinist can be useful ...
