I'm putting some new big end shells in my mates type r tomorrow night as he spun one, managed to catch it quickly before it did any damage to the crank, any way, is there a good way to bed them in? I.e 500 miles below a certain rpm then a fresh oil change etc?

Its the rings you have to bed in not the shells if I am right in saying, the shells will be running on a film of oil so don't need any bedding in as they don't make contact or shouldn't really as they will spin again lol

I normally scrap a rod once shell spun .
Main thing check is oil pressure and noise once repaired and first running .
How it goes going depend on what caused first failure and state of engine in general .

The fact he didn't have any engine oil in it was the probably 'the root cause' of the problem haha

Yeah of all engines the Honda really hates low oil! And so does any for that matter.

wont last so waste of money and time being brutally honest
plus if shell has spun as Bsaid its more than likely damaged the rod as well so best off pulling the lump out and do it properly
