So every pulsar owner seems to have an issue with jacking points.... Currently ARB points are my choice as cills and so on are a no no.... what are he actual true jacking points on these things? or did nissan over look this for their rally bred beastys?

I use the front cross member where the front sway bar is, you can jack under the rear arms and I've also jacked it up off the rear diff ( with a peice of wood underneath)

Have a look at this thread  (has pic from service manual)
http://www.gtir-motorsport-club.com/t3612-gtir-front-jacking-and-axle-stand-location

Front tubular cross bar is best place lift front & support it when convenient .
Rear diff & subframe also good
arb points & wishbone mount points good for stands too,
You can use chassis rails for stands but don't lift off one if can help it & always use wood blocks to spread weight & preferably wood with rubber bonded to it as marks less plus grips better.
Most things get bent as people go round back of wishbone area  with trolley jack lifting at one point and as car so nose heavy & short you lifting whole side of car & tremendous weight goes on a tiny lift footing point.
I like tidy & rust free sills so never use them, any car that had sills used fir lifting always suffers, the joints are stressed at minimum & water ingress from capillary action soon takes its toll on the lip joints :-/ manufacturers should make far better usable secure lift points on front & rear sills but they don't ...

What I've noticed on mine, the rear stand points in the above diagram looked fine, until I started cutting bits out then found they were really rotten inside!! The strengthening plate inside was completely rotten and so was the surrounding area, so be careful using them places unless you know they are strong and rot free.

Handy diagram that Mr B, printing that off for my garage wall thumbsup

^ are you on about the rear sill stand area ?
Good point that as sill end area is right rust trap on most cars & most sills when cut open have serious weakness when look at inner supporting metal work.
Shame they didn't build in far better strong robust usable stand footing point front and rear on/near sills, front would of been handy if far forward as possible & would of saved common sill flange damage & chassis rail damage .
@Burrows I heard you lift & rest yours on babies pillows to save marks on the por15 :-D good idea that :-)

BMW's are awesome, I miss my old e36, it was the easiest car to jack up.

Yeh our cars have way too much weight at front for sill jacking, rear could be used for stands but best habit is never use sills, I never use them on any car unless absolute no other option .

Plenty of info to scare the crap out of me everytime i jack it up lol. It was a curious question, I havnt used cills but my rails and cills are already bloody bent (W"nk3r5) wasnt sure on rear diff but I have used it with timber under its sweet self so I didnt crack it. Smile

Ive always jacked directly off the rear diff and its been fine Smile

When i replace my rails think Ill reinforce the inside, hopefully giving them some additional support Smile

Yeah if you have a lowered car you will n3ver get wood under your diff too lol its fine its quite strong!

I friend of mine insisted on helping me jack my pulsar up he used the standard scissor jack and jacked it up too high and the nuckle on it slipped and jumped off went right through my sill made a fist size hole bent it all up on an old car I had

A good low entry Jack helps the small Halfords type are not the best as have only a small head point and puts a lot of pressure in ones place rather than spreading the weight

When jacking its front cross member or rear diff. Never from the floor supports or arb mounts.

Sills are absolutely acceptable though if not rotten, use a bit of shaped wood to sit over the seam if its not already squashed. The Head on tbe original suicide jack is shaped for that reason.

Not a lot of option on the 2 post but the Sills.

The thing is when use likes of 2 post you lift weight at 4 points at once, if trying trolley jack at one point especially at front even with grooved block on sill lip it potentially to much weight for one lift point. For trolley jack front tubular cross bar is best or front wishbone rear bush mount.
If lifting with beam or arms (2 or more lift points) then rails near arbs can be used if use blocks spread weight nicely. Sills are best avoided as keeps them clean & joints less likely suffer from capillary related rot, at age know most sills will be compromised in strength & even chassis rails need inspection especially under arb mount .
I always make sure tyre shop use front & when in for vehicle testing it never out of my site, kept my sills & rails straight so far ...

The only time i use a scissor jack is to slightly raise the body enough to get a proper jack in i hate those bloody scissor jacks they are so unstable the flat ones that go up in the middle are not as bad ....
