Just come home to a letter through the door with a fine for £100 (reduced to £60 if payed within 14 days)

Last week I met a friend in a car park to pick up up a car part, no signs that were obvious about car park charges etc, never actually left the car, any way, I now how this letter from parking eye, any one had one of these before? Did they pay? Any help would be great as pissed off is an understatement the robbing twats!!

Ive had loads of these and just ignored them,
The 'threatening letters' usually peak at around week 6,
Once they realise you're not bluffing and they'd have to take you to court first,' they go away and pick on someone else.
Dont pay whatever you do.

This was on Watchdog a while back, very funny what the solicitir does,

What car park was it Pete? If it's not a council issued fine then don't pay it. I got one in McDonald's and never payed it

I just put the 'fines' in our red hold bin,
Which then gets collected by the recycling lorry every fortnight,
Very Happy

When my wife got one i told her to tell them i was driving.
When i got the notice, i told them she was driving,
You can see where this one went.....
Very Happy

Doubt they would inpound the car they dont have duristiction without going to court? As the guys said just ignore it also if you do persue it say it was not you driving. You dont recall who was driving that day and as said its the driver not the car so they cant so anything. A friend of mines mate is a legal advisor with this exact thing and without proof of who it was they cant do anything.

It was a joke saying tow it and trash his box or diff lol. Parking is Nowt. Other stuff owner takes the wrap if you don't prove driver. But as said parking cost them to much or more than they get back

Worth reading this:

http://www.resolver.co.uk/consumer-rights/private-parking-not-the-driver-of-the-car-complaints

This says it is the owner of the car, and not the driver, who is legally responsible for parking fines.
It also says you don't have to pay it if it's not Council.

Cheers John, that's a very useful piece of info, my mate got a ticket from the same company for the same amount, he pulled off the m1 as he was tired so pulled into a services for a couple hours sleep, then a week later got a ticket,he wrote to them saying they can go swivel basically as he thought he was doing the correct thing (not driving whilst tired) and he never heard from them again, and that was at least 6 months ago
