Hey Everyone after a small win on fixing my lack of taillights Burnt contact to parklight, dashlight rocker on the headlight stork

Am I correct thinking the neutral switch and reverse are the same item??
the black plug at the bottom of the G/Box with 4 pin plug attached
im worried bout feeding 12v to them and spiking the ecu or something dumb

I normally bridge a piece of wire between the two pins that way if its the switch  it will put the reverse lights on if it doesnt then its a wiring issue ...

pin 3-4 should be open circuit if out of reverse, in reverse you will have circuit/continuity .
Nomads tip is good too as if bridge 3-4 pins in harness plug reverse lights should come on if wiring/bulbs/clusters all good .

some oil will indeed come out when switch removed, either be prepared & do quick swap or drain completely for cleaner option

Sprry to hijack I have an issue that when I put it into reverse the lights dont come on but if I then move the stick a mm or so forward the light comes on. Is there a sensor for this or is something worn?

^ wear I would of thought, depends if more reverse mechanism or wear or switch wear .
Could be worth removing & inspecting switch, refit repositioned slightly such as machined slightly so screws in bit more or spaced out bit if helps function .
could also try another switch as a new switch might have more function range which could overcome internal mechanism wear .

If the gearbox sensor does need to be removed........jack the car up around 18'' on passenger side and you wont lose much if any oil at all, saves draining and refilling. Be warned though they can easily break if trying to remove from outside the box so if you don't have another to go in then get some Araldite or epoxy resin as you may need to reseal it if the casing cracks

ok so judging by the fact theres no circuit on the reverse side of the plug
Tested the neutral as well to be sure no trouble there

so theres nothing tricky about the removal other than actually getting it to move ??

Just wiggle it gently to try get it move & spray little release oil as may help, once wiggles a bit try prying & wiggling gently.
Once out you will see switch contact points & a contact slipper that comes out separate, hopefully you will see an issue with parts once apart, I had success with one just cleaning contacts & repositioning slightly as worked better twisted off a degree or 2 so elongated screw hole to suite.
If seems real tight I would try get a spare first, they used on fair few nissans so may source one in a salvage yard or good parts supplier local or online.

since bridged in a switch to the reverse switch side of the plug and the lights work need to talk to my friend at the dealer and see if I can get a new switch as trying to find a used one seems difficult

Switch will be fine just clean the copper contact pad and bend the small plate under it.
