Hi,

Out of interest, putting a new gasket in the rear diff, manual shows a White cross in a black circle, does this mean to oil/grease gasket before fitting?

Seams to have this symbol a lot through manual but no reference to it that I can see, assuming its not gasket sealant as its also shown on bearings etc

Cheers

That's interesting, I was just going to use sealant instead of the gasket? Bad idea?

The gasket was only £5 took a week to arrive, wether or not the gasket means the diff lines up properly in the subframe as its 1mm thick, saying that I installed it the other day and forgot to put the gasket in Laughing still lined up fine so cant see a reason why sealant wouldnt work, prob do a better job in fairness.

I'll see how sealant goes with it, I removed the crusty old gasket and cleaned the 2 surfaces up. Plenty of rear covers don't use a gasket I guess.
