Hello all ,

I'm having a issues and could be down to the fact I'm pissed off /sun burnt or fried brain!

To run actuator pressure only ( bypassing boost control solenoid) all I need to do is run a vacuum pipe from boost source this being turbo compressor outlet to the actuator?

I'm trying to test if the act is shagged , all it's doing is boosting the nuts off the turbo .

Any help

Tim

So do you think its leaking or not opening cant you use a hand pump to test it ?

I'm really not sure , while being mapped turbo peaked at 1.8 bar then dropped quickly to 1.3 at redline.

Turbo technics have agreed to look at it but in order to do that it requires stripping etc and if it's all ok we will have another bill.

I'm trying to discount the boost control solenoid as a possible fault so need to run the act pressure and see what it does boost wise.

I've looped the act to the compressor outlet (boost source ) basically cut the solenoid out the equation.
But it's seems to be boosting its nuts off , as of the act is not opening so im thinking its me being a tit!

If I'm correct in what I've done , I'm completely stumped and will have to send it away.

wrote a reply but it did not post up.i really dont mean this in a funny way but have you tried u tube some very usefull videos of stuff on ie pipes in this case.like anything else so much on sometimes takes a little finding but rather than words you see what you need

Isnt boost dropping off quickly a to eeak actuator ie weak spring or just not capable of holding the boost required

What boost controller have you got? As ive got an avcr & it holds 1bar of boost perfect in 4th & 5th but will hit 1 bar in 2nd & 3rd & then drop to 0.9 bar?

Ive tryed to set it up best i can using the, start duty & feedback settings but i cant get 2nd & 3rd right?

So maybe your boost controller is causing you the same problem?

Yeah it normally is or a boost leak somewhere, I've finally got hold of the mapper and it was connected correctly so the turbo needs to go back as it has issues!
Trouble was today I was so hot and pissed off once I put the car away I just needed to be sure I wasn't being a prat lol

The boost is controlled with a 3 port solenoid from the ecu , and that all seems to be ok .
I think it may be a moody turbo .
I have tried to set up a avcr in the past and it was a bloody nightmare , I'm not great with tech

Lol it can get to you at times especially when you keep drawing a blank then it gets to the point where you start questioning yourself even though you know your right lol well fingers crossed it gets sorted then mate Very Happy

run a pipe directly from throttle body to actuator....just one pipe with nothing else connected.
it should hit between 0.5-1.2bar and no more.
if it still is overboosting then i reckon you have over adjusted the actuator rod hense putting too much preload on actuator spring which is making it difficult to open wastegate.

as leighton said also....connect a footpump or something to a vacuum pipe going direct to actuator then see how much pressure it takes before the actuator arm starts moving (normally 1.2bar if thats the spring weight you have fitted) maybe less if a weaker spring
