gear selection problem

Fitted another gearbox but gear selection is very stiff ( have to force it into and out of gear ) , apart from that there is no whinning or crunching into gears , thanks

What's the box standard and did you buy it recent or ? What's it go in like with engine off ? What's cutch and bite point like ?

Box was standard, clutch was new, it's the same whether engine is on or off , thanks

Selecting 3rd and 4th is hardest , even harder to get it out of 4th

Take the slave off and take the piston out.
Might just need a rebuild kit.

Had the box been rebuilt?

Had this with a rebuilt box I once bought off a so called expert, turned out it had been over shimmed putting too much preload on the gears and caused massive selecting probs especially when it was hot

mine does that sometimes, ive changed the selector fork rubbers, and installed a polybush too. Helped a little but its still not the smoothest gearchange

Looks like I'm going to have to find another gearbox , another £290 wasted , not having much look with this car but not giving up yet.
