Hi y'all. Any one tried alloy wheel cleaner on corroded ally parts? I used one containing phosphoric acid on my plenum, fuel rail, dizzy & Maf. I used a tooth brush & kitchen paper & water to clean it off. It worked a treat.Alloy cleaner <a href=Alloy cleaner IMG_20150417_200733" />Alloy cleaner <a href=Alloy cleaner IMG_20150417_195315" />

It kinda fizzes as the white oxide dissolves. I took my rocker dome nuts & washers off & did them look like new now!

Hi, EBay, of course! I brushed it on & cleaned it off several times. I've found abrasives & polish don't produce as nice a result. Much easier than stropping parts off & sending off for vapour blasting etc. I might try an electric tooth brush next!

I would like to add being that its an acid cleaner ... it doesnt fare to well with silicone or rubber gaskets ... so make sure you clean it off thoroughly as it will eat it away ....

Just bought some of eBay 500ml £6:99 so cheap enough but it says to dilute. Did you just use it neat ???

Yes, its diluted for cleaning wheels.I used it neat. Its not that nasty. I used a toothbrush but a stainless steel wire brush is recommended on the you tube video I saw.

Looks great! I had my engine bay dry ice blasted, which cleaned it up a lot, but for the finishing touch I will give this a go.

Might even use an old electric toothbrush to reach those difficult areas.

The phosphoric acid will dissolve all the galvanized layer (ie fuel rail and bolts), that's why it looks shiny as new. But that's the base metal, what's appear.
I know, becaus I used the Cillit Bang orange color celaner, what's contain phosphoric acid too, all my bolt was shiny, but for a day only.
Than, I had to regalvanise them all Sad
But yes, the phosphoric acid is a strong degraser.
