Johnny said to get a nut extractor.
So i searched the bay and found these at a very respectable price.
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=121521574562&alt=web
The nut was well and truly fucked!
It was a 17mm nut. Then banged a 16mm socket on. No joy.
Ordered a 16mm nut extractor but thought i would change it to a 15mm instead.
Banged it on the nut and hey presto Smile
The nut came off without a fight.
Best thing i have purchased for a while.

That's pretty cool, I've never seen them before, I might have to buy some to throw in the toolbox. You can get a whole range other sizes to?

Yeh you can get them in a tray/box set in a few piece set covering popular sizes or a full range set.
The Irwin branded ones have good reviews & may work out ok on cost as full set.
Not something you use a lot but one of those tools you give your right arm for when stuck.

I hadn't heard of them until Johnny pointed me to them. Smile
They come in various sizes. I also bought one that can be used with a spanner rather than ratchet.
But haven't used that one yet.

irwin ones have drive hole & hex so can spanner it or use ratchet, t-bar etc.
10pc irwin set below
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IRWIN-10-Piece-Bolt-Grip-8mm-19mm-Damaged-Nut-Remover-Base-Expansion-Twin-Set-/290463114744

Ones Su got are same design in socket jaw & look robust
Quite a few brands do these now, basic 5pc set probably under £20, full set between £30-£40 pending on luck & brand.
