Hi guys n gals, ive been away from the R scene for a while now and wondered what people opinions are now of getting one.
have i left it to late to get back into them as they seem very hard to get hold of and im guessing parts are dissapearing

but i do need to sell my clio before i do anything.

I would really love another one as the insurance now is soooooooo cheap

thoughts ??

Ben

That is one very clean Clio mate.

Depends on what your after mate and your circumstances.  End of the day you'll be buying a 25 year old second hand car and regardless of what the seller tells you of how well loved it's been they are going to break and need some money thrown at them and you'll always want more out of it...to which something else will break and the cycle continues lol.

But when they are running you can't beat the smile it puts on your face.

For the next 5 years I reckon parts should still be available, we just might need to chip in and pay Bob's hospital fees to keep him running and providing parts well into the future

Was 840 last year with mods, then I binned it.

Going to have to go limited mileage classic this year probably.

Wow. Mine is £196 with no claims as there are used up in other cars

I'm 32 and will be kept locked in a garage with 3000 miles a year

Is that for a standard car though? Id expect pretty cheap for myself on a more standard car.

Anyway in response to your OP, If i could go back 6 years and say to myself when buying my first one to just enjoy the car until the shell rots away then get something else then life would be a lot easier now. Laughing

My advice would be both to stay away but at the same time get another one. Cool

I had the same dilemma in January this year about should i get back to the R's or keep driving cheap runabouts, and i decided to buy another one . It doesn't matter how much I'm paying for insurance or parts,it's the fact that I'm feeling alive again, man that's priceless /for me/.Hope my "drama" post help you decide what you want lol.cheers

I have been selling my Uncles Sunbeam Rapier Fastback this week, funny how many 50+ year old guys have been calling me up reminiscing their youth, poor people growing up with cars like that lol. I wonder what the R will be like in another 20+ years... It will be interesting to see.

Just keep a look out for a good one I would buy one again at least its a decent car not a Clio lol

'Shit' think I need to sell my Sunny!

Oh I wish that for the peace!
But I really cant find my honey
The only one I would give my money
Is one with a great big fleece
And then I would be at peace...

You are bound to find something wrong with one, there's always something waiting to break on these as stated above, finding one that is clean, or minuscule welding to be done are getting more difficult to find and expensive,  we have a very large stock of parts, some are starting to get hard to find in good condition or in general and again prices are going up, gearboxes are starting to become harder to find that are in good condition, but as most people will say they can last a few days or few years depending on how they have been treated
