Hi all
Recently I bought front willwood brake kit-it's 310mm discs with 4 pot calipers, I was reading through the post but I can't seem to find my answer.
Do I need to change the brake fluid with fully sintethyck or the dot 4 is ok and just top it up?thanks in advance

Dot 4 is fine. . But not hard to change to dot 5

Pointless having big brakes if your fluid is going to boil

Thanks for fast reply rob.
I though so myself but it's always better to ask first than do it.
Should be straight forward swap isn't? I've got all the bits I need like caliper adaptors etc,is there anything else that can make it tricky job?thanks

Dot 4 fine.
Don't use Dot 5 as on aged system with glycol fluids it a bad move
Dot 5.1 ok though & far far better than the silicone Dot 5 ...

No fancy fluid needed for road, even with my big brakes I just use dot5.1 from the motor factors.

Track is a different matter.

I thought 5.1 was for track as has a much higher boiling point! That's what I use and hasn't failed me yet

^ yep 5.1 is glycol high boiling point equivalent of the silicone 5
The silicone dot5 is rubbish and best avoided.
For road & mild track dot4 fine.
For track or those who just want the best- dot5.1

I meant the motor factors cheap 5.1 is fine. No need for fancy £50 a litre stuff for the road.

Its also hardly any more expensive than dot 4.
