A bit of a weird one thought it was the turbo at first but have now narrowed it down to only happening when going around left hand (tight corners) a big cloud of blue smoke but goes away fairly quickly, does it when warm or hot but doesn't do it around right hand corners?

It never did it until I recently changed oil from 10w 40 to 10w 50? Coincidence???

Any ideas where to start looking first?

Turbazz

Might be still your turbo? Just because it doesn't do it around the right hand corner dont think that really makes a difference mate...

Strange is that spike

First thought would be you've over filled it if you've just changed the oil and it's surging and picking up in cylinder on no 1

Have you got a catchcan fitted? If so is it full with oil and maybe surging back and running into take off from induction pipe?

Not overfilled Bob, it's about 5mm below the high mark on the shaded area of the dipstick?

No catch can fitted, just removed the PCV pipe work but it's been like that for the last 2 years with no issues.

Would the thinner oil be a factor as I have 86mm JE pistons fitted and maybe it's pushing past the rings but wasn't with the thicker oil???

I've got a set of spare rings for the pistons so if it is the rings I may change them over.

I have already stripped down a spare standard turbo that had loads of play in it, so I may rebuild it with a 360 degree bearing kit and see if that sorts it.

The 10/w50 oil should be no thinner tbh as the last numbers represent the viscosity when hot so it's more suitable for high temp running

Have you checked the turbo for play and done a comp test
Wondering if that plug has caused some damage when it popped the centre out on the rollers the other month, so do comp test paying particular attention to that cylinder spike
