Rear engine mounted SR20DET Micra.

Ok chaps,

after years of debating (with myself:)) ) I am thinking in building a drag car with the abovementioned setup.

Opinions????

but why don't you put a GTiR set-up in a mini shell?

GTIR setup in a mini shell would be awesome.

Personally if it was me I would try and get the full rnn14 GTIR engine and running gear fitted in the micra (if possible) or just run it front wheel drive with the engine up front.

If I was going to rear mount anything in it then I would look at fitting an RB block in it personally

Whatever you do sounds like an interesting project and I look forward to seeing the beast if you go ahead with it

you can build anything with a tubular frame and a rear engine set up...it's up to you to choose a light shell to put all in.

depends on the drag class you run in, or if it is only for fun....


Hyabusa turbo set up is light and powerful....don't forget that light is right, the lighter you are, the faster you can go....

Sr20det in a mini has been done before
... .mind you i think it has been done in a micra too dont think it was rear engined .... as fred said it really does come down to power to wieght ..

I've seen a pink micra with SR20DET in Japan and that was mounted in the front, looked a tight squeeze though lol I'm guessing it was front wheel drive.

I've just realised you said it was for a drag car. I would definately use a Nissan rb25det or rb26dett just because I love the sound of those straight 6 engines   

Sr20det would be cheaper than Rb and lighter and cheaper to tune I would imagine

gti engine in a micra is easy....been done before on my mates car and I've just been asked to fit a gtir engine in a micra for a customer

Gtir mini has already been done.. Seen it about 9 years ago..
Bloke cut the top off a gtir and the bottom off a mini clubman estate and mated them together
