Does anyone know a rough estimate of time it takes for an insurance company to pay out for your car? possibly need a hire car as the car looks like its been written off due to damage to both doors, wing and sill, the accident was the fault of another driver so the claim is coming from the other guys insurance.

Any advice would be much appreciated as i dont know anything about this sort of thing

My sister had an accident about two years ago and it was the other guys fault because he was clearly in the wrong lane but he would not accept responsibility, still to this day it hasn't been resolved! She repaired her own car because it just needed a wing and some paint but apparently the investigation is still on going, it's not fair on my sister, what the hell do you pay insurance for if they never pay out lol

We had a courtesy car last year for 4 months .. My car was only worth £1500 they ended up giving me a cheque for £1300 and asking me to get it fixed..

I pocketed the money and never bothered fixing it as it was only a dented and scratched rear end

It seems abit of a grey area with insurance companies regarding final settlement but they still have to stick to certain guidelines ...

well he admitted liability to the police but seems they have to admit it to the insurance company aswell, surely if he doesnt then thats against the law, i would have thought police statement was more important than the drivers statement.

however hire car is being sorted now so atleast there is progress and im not stuck without a car Smile
