Unfortunately I have a cracked windscreen, anyone know who replaces them on the cheap, I am based in Essex.
Does the screen fit from a normal 1.6 or 1.4 Sunny?
Thanks.

Yes mate same screen as a sunny  .... if you want cheap probably best to ring round some independant  companys  as places like autoglass are quite dear . Or see if you can just buy the screen and fit it yourself i did my old car  loctite do a silicone for windows comes in a tube that you put in a gun got it from a local motor factors for around 15quid .

Thanks nomad, just read your thread re your Astra, not too confident about fitting myself, great that the screen is the same as the sunny, I was getting worried that I would not be able to get a replacement.
Thanks again.

No problem mate ...... its not as bad as you think .....get the old one out wich you dont have to be to gentle with  but first undo the strips down the sides there is a couple of screws when you open the doors at the top take wipers off and remove scuttle panel ...get rid of the old shit screen ....then clean it up ruj a 10mm bead all arount the edge of car where the screen sits put the rubber on top of the screen get a friend to help lift it in place push down to bed it on to the silicone  put rest back together job done

ok sounds easy enough, I shall look tomorrow for the screws, then next job it to look out for a windscreen....not paying £350 - £400 to a big windscreen company like Autoglass!

Thanks Bob, so far I have had 2 quotes to supply and fit, both with blue tint, £156 and £132, much better than I thought.......not too confident about fitting a new screen so will probably get one of these companies to do it. I shall ring around a bit further tho.
Think hreggtir is popping to see you today, could you please pass on this info for me...by the way, the coilovers are much softer now and my head is no longer bouncing off the roof, so thx again for that info.

no worries paul and glad the softer settings have worked ok

if dannys down here today I guess he will have a crack at getting the screen out the car, if it breaks then its no biggy
have none of you's got w/s cover on your policies generally you only have to pay the £50 excess and that's it

I take it that's the excess through your insurance company and not outright?

go for it at that price, after 2 hours of slicing, i get to the final bit, along the bottom, and crack, £156 is well worth the 2 hours of grief and frustration quickly followed by a few F's then disappointment, wouldn't you agree Bob Laughing
