I maybe wrong but I am guessing this is a forumotion forum?

Anyway how did you get the forum to become so visible in search engines etc?

I started a forum a while back (not gtir) and its ni on invisible Laughing

I tried setting up that thing through google(web adviser?)and its still not really helped much.

Maybe its because of the name as mine don't include the www. part and is still connected with the hosts name?

Is there any SIMPLE Laughing ways that I can improve its visibility?

we haven't really done anything rich

first off it was linked to gti-r us website so that gave it a huge kick off as people were clicking on the link on the main website which has a huge amount of hits.
the more popular it gets the further the google bots etc push it up the rankings

so basically the more log ins the higher the site gets at least I think that's how it works

think you can pay to have it pushed up but I don't trust those fly ads

Yes mate  register it with search engines ie google. Bing .yahoo etc you have the option in admin panel to boost your traffic so when people search certain terms your website will come up .... also once you have notified /registered your website on search engines  keep updating it .... as everytime you do so ...say google will pick up on it and send out spiders to gather the new info ....if that makes sense .... any other questions just give me a shout i may be able to help you set it up more  indepth intially

Haha that would work, maybe subtlety stick anal in the name somewhere Laughing

I only asked as a while back a member mentioned it,and tbh I was thinking the same that its abit of a bastard to find.

The place was only ment to be a stop gap until this other forum we all went on got wiped, but its been a while now and I don't think its coming back.

Think most of the old members found there way there via facebook and old mods sending out emails, but theres still proberly a few that don't know about it.

You need to get your own domain name for your site.
If you go into your admin panel you should be able to create one free for the first 12 months Wink
The you need to hit google and other search engines with that web address and then if you have a lot of traffic through your website it will eventually move up the ranks on the search engines Wink

Thanks mate I will give that a go Smile

Tbh I have only registered with the google one as I though that was proberly the most used, and when I have not seen any improvement with google I have not bothed with the others.

I also did not know about the needing to updated it part,i will have a look in to that know and look into registering with the other sites.

Thanks mate, I did wonder if the name also played a part, and tbh I did not pick a great one, although I did think it would help it be found a bit better at the time.

I may consider changing the name but will try registering with the others first to see how it gets on,i would need to warn everyone first before changing the name and as its not the busiest that may take some time lol

There are very few members but its still a handy site for the few that still have not found it.

I will also have to look into the cost as I know it costs a small amount to change the name and is a yearly charge.

Tbh I am clueless aswell Laughing it started as just an experiment and then turned into a place to round all the old members back together after the first forum got wiped, still not sure if the original forum will ever come back though Neutral

I just click and hope and most times it turns out ok Laughing
