gearbox leak

just a quick question, just getting engine ready to put into car over the weekend and filled the gearbox up with oil, but the nearside driveshaft seal is leaking although its been replaced, will this stop leaking once the seal softens or do i need t replace before installing engine??

If it's leaking now then it will continue to leak mate, having said that it depends how long ago you replaced the seal and if it has been stood doing nothing for a while, then it may soften up a bit and stop leaking buddy, are you sure the driveshaft is all the way into the diff mate? as if it isn't it will leak.

i was leaking with driveshaft in, but all afternoon ive been in the work shop and been back and too turning the driveshaft so its not leaking tonight, but i know the gearbox isn't full of oil yet so will see tomo when i get some more oil cheers

I think if its leaking now it will be worse once its running and the oil thins out but it maybe the seals brittle if been standing for sometime oil free

cheers guys, will see in the week, and if it leaks on the car then i'll put a new seal in, doesn't look a big job even when fitted to the car :/
