So, I see all this about ratios but nothing about speeds
I hit limiter in 4th at 110 but I thought it odd. It tops out around 125ish in 5th - GPS'd

I see most people can go faster and it's no where near the top speed capable as I'm still pinned to the seat.

Can someone explain to me what's going on in my box in noob talk please?

I'm due to replace the input shaft bearing and uprate the clutch fork when it's off the car but if I have a different gear set will I require different parts?

you may well have a short ratio rb gearbox fitted as that will top out at around 125mph no matter how much power shes running you wont go faster

Well, that's good news Smile wondered why it was a bit playful

Any way to actually tell what's what? It's going to a gearbox specialist but I want to make sure it's in and out within a few days rather than waiting.

What size wheels you got maybe your car has the limiter fitted 112 ish but might hit 125 mph on 17 inch wheel and tyre set up

De-limited and running 18s, soon to be 17s or smaller
It was GPS verified

yeah running 18s would certainly give you a higher than 112mph top speed if the cars not delimited so it may be a case that the delimiter has failed and with 16s or 17s your top speed may drop further still

I'm not sure if this will be helpful or not, but when I was trying to calibrate my Racepak IQ3 digital dash, I had to compute the speed/RPM ratios for my "selected gear" to be displayed properly. So here are the calculated speeds of a standard (i.e. non-RB) GTiR gearbox running 195/50R15 tires:

Ratio's and Speeds GTiR_gear_speeds

This table can be recomputed for various tire profiles, but I was running 15s on my track car so that's why that size is used.

Hope this helps a little,
Dave

My first pulsar was an RB and was a hateful thing I hated it with a passion Evil or Very Mad . Was a fantastic day when it blew up and caught fire cheered me right up.

Used to drive me mad all that noise from the engine constantly revving it's nuts off.

More power fred you will get through the gears quicker. My mate dan had a rb box was no good fun to drive around a industral est i thought wow i want one untill i took it down the road. Then even a circuit like cadwell he was on the limit on bottom straight

the best will be some close ratio on the 1,2,3 gears and longer 4 and 5...but i think it's impossible to mix up the 2 gearboxes types....so to get an all road set up.

by the way, it depends on the road you use everyday....and for sure, i will not use my car on the big roads, i use it to go to work and on twisty mountains roads i have in here, so i need closer ratios and no needs of high speed (more than that we have speed limits and flashing radars everywhere in France so 150kph is far sufficient!

Long term think about a 2860rs disco potato and a proper set up will see boost at 2000rpm brilliant turbo wont flow much more than 320 but have seen them make upto 360 again tail off just over 6000 rpm but only affects in 5th gear at high speeds if you want response and brilliant fun on rally ,country roads ,twisty hills i highly recomend this turbo totally changes the car people feel they have no lag fit this over the standard tubby and you soon realise
