more blood spilt lol

just spent another day on my tvr trying to get the startermotor off and yey its finally off after absolutely ripping my hand and forearm to shreds, i look like ive had measles and scratched my arm to pieces its that grim

took the rockercovers off too to reshim the head only to find that both the cams are totally and utterly knackered, its hard to believe this engines only covered 32,000 from new, some of the cam profiles have actually cracked to the point it looks like the cam lobes are ready to seperate.
good job i caught it now but could be costly for a pair of new cams

i need to find a pulsarboby in the tvr world who can sort me out a nice pair of shiny cams and startermotor

my runabout gtir sunny broke down today aswell for no apparent reason (think the immobilizers playing up) so had to push the bloody thing 50 yards up the road to get it out of everyones way so now ive got no car as ive broken them all

im taking a day off tomorrow away from things with engines in as there giving me the right ump at the moment

if he knows his stuff with the tvr's would it be possible to get his number for me as would like to pick his brains regarding removal of the cam chain sprockets (evidentally theres a special holding tool for the sprockets.

cheers for the info leighton, £140 is cheaper than i thought so may aswell buy a pair of kent cams as mine have been totally destroyed....waste of time trying to shim it till ive checked clearances with the new cams fitted

Bob, spoke to our neighbour this morning .
He gets all his parts from Racing green which is quite close to us .
He said he hasn't done much with the 4.2 only really oil changes , so he has no idea unfortunately .

Cams look like 300 each , I'm sure trade prices would be cheaper but still seems high!

sorry to hear u are having trouble with the tvr looks a lovely car mate. and thats what sunny did to me in london and then got it recovered back home. it started first time and drove off the lorry. i paid the man and walked to garage to get the sledge hammer lol

when i was 17 on my first corsa my air filter broke and so i put a pair of tights over the end of the pipe, i didnt realise there were another pair of tights inside, drove about 100 miles and my car just wouldnt start after (thank fuck it was next to my house)


Long story short, didnt drive the car for a week as i only checked the first part of the pipe, checked the car was fuelling ok everhting, only to take of the pipe and find a set of tights stuck over the AFM not letting any air in


BTW you lot are the first people i have ever told tht too as i was so embarressed, but a few years have paassed and i am now ready to talk about it

hiya keidi welcome to the site fella.....yep shes up to her old tricks again, thought i had solved this but obviously not.
i have a sneaky feeling it may be a sticky relay but il check it out tomorrow assuming it doesnt start again, intermittent probs are the worse to try and diagnose

not had a chance to look at white car yet but im 99% sure its the immobilizer thats playing up so im gonnarip that out
