1Sanding rocker cover down Empty Sanding rocker cover down 25th September 2013, 7:20 pm

Well as some of you know my car is off the road now due to losing 3rd gear, so im in the middle of saving to sort that out!

But whilst car is off the road im going to spend abit of time tidying engine bay up & also want to paint the rocker cover!
Now im wondering what is the best way for me to sand the rocker cover down as I don't want to get it sand blasted because of the risk of getting sand in the filter underneath it. & don't want to use a dermal as that just misshapes it.

Has anyone got any tips?

Bolt it flat onto a piece of wood.. Use silicone to seal it to the wood and then sand blast it...

Wouldn't that work.

Yeh did think of that Stu lol, But ive heard the paint on rocker covers is quite thick & a nightmare to do with sand paper?

Id say that sand blasting would just eat threw the silicone in seconds

I would of thought it you just scotch pad over the original paint that will key it enough to lay down your base and top coat?

Going to do my rocker cover a blue colour, as slose to the compomotive logo on my wheels, Basicly if you picture my car I want the rocker cover blue & boost pipes anthresite, So it go's with the colour scheme of my wheels

Then maybe save up for a blue cusco roll cage in the future

What i did with mine was use paint stripper nitro morse but i wanted it back to bare metal to polish it but i would do the same again to spray another as it gets rid of all that crud .
