unlock iphone 3gs 32gb

I've just got myself a iphone 3gs 32gb off the wife

Its locked on o2 and I want to use my t-mobile sim.

Anyone know a good easy jailbreak to use?

Link to download the jailbreak would be ideal please.

Think cydia main site for unlock not sure if you have to root it like the older iphones just check what firmware normaly find the files on rapidshare but tbh its not always fail safe obviously you know all the pros and cons with jailbreaking stu?

use redsn0w, easy peasy mate takes about 2 minutes and it tells you exactly what to do however i jailbroke mine and it didnt unlock the phone to use different sims.

you need to also get the correct version for the firmware on your iphone, you can check this in itunes (i.e newest firmware is 5.1)

Im pretty thick when it comes to the tech side of things Leighton i know about what to get and what it does, but when it comes to mobile phones im back in 2002 lol

Ive downloaded redsnow, greenpoison and blackrain but having problems lol

i tried to update the firmware to 5.1 and the prossess caused the iphone to lockup It took me an hour to reformat it to the previous firmware lol
and it wiped all data off the phone so now i cant even use the phone at all bacause its reset to factory spec so asks for a valid simcard to set it up.

Think im just going to take it into the pc shop by me and get them to do it

dont think you should have updated to 5.1, did you back up your iphone before doing it? you can go into recovery mode and it will revert you to your latest backup which shouldn't cause any problems, providing you have backed it up before trying any jailbreak

Yes I did set a backup on the itunes but it won't let me use it until I setup the phone again and I can't with out a valid sim.

no worries, was easy for me but took quite a while of research before i got the balls to try it, its good once you do jailbreak it, free apps etc

Just looked at that link and it shows me exactly what I did to restore the phone already. Wouldn't let me use the restore point a made. Just a factory reset.

I'm gonna take it into the pc shop in a min and see what they can do.
Failing that I will have to either buy another sim or see if my server can unlock it for me? I'm on t-mobile and the phone is on 02 tho so not sure if they can do that?

I've managed to get it unlocked for £15

My t-mobile contract dosnt run out until october so I will prob go for one of those 02 sims then
I will be able to ditch this unlock then and upgrade the iphone, with this unlock they have to downgrade it

in my opinion i wouldnt upgrade it past 5.0 anyway, my 3gs runs real slow and freezes quite alot on 5, the 5.0+ firmware is best run on the iphone 4 which is a faster phone. if you jailbreak it its easier on a lower firmware and to be honest the features on 5.0 i never really use anyway, they just slow it down, if you want to jailbreak type in google "Redsn0w untethered jailbreak for 5.0 (or your current firmware)" and there are some good tutorials for doing it.

Phone him up to see if he's done my phone yet. And he tells me wifi has gone. I say that's ok as I have unlimited internet anyways.

He says no, with wifi gone I can't unlock the phone and the phone is rended useless its totaly fucked! Gutted!
Money down the drain big time! The phone is only 6 months old

Sounds like he fcked your iphone not good did he try to jailbreak it or just an unlock? id be telling him to fix it mate, he shouldnt have tried if there was a risk he knackered your phone.

He tried to unlock it by down grading the firmware and lost imei number, bluetooth, carrier and wifi looked on the net and it says its a corrupt baseband so needs a new logistic board Not cheap

Its a back street shop guys, i dont think i would get anywhere if i went back and played my face, prob get the law taking me away for slapping them

There is a way to get it sorted but it isnt cheap. still better than loosing the money my mrs shelled out for the phone!

My bro inlaw is having a look and his mate owns a phone shop so he will drop it into him to take a look aswell.

is it not insured if its bricked theres no way of telling how it got that way other than the script files will be corrupt as you get a year warranty with manafactre . and stu what have i told you about those back street shops lmao

Ive been told apple give a life time warrenty? my bro inlaw is going to re install a licenced firmware so if it cant be repaired i can take it into an apple service shop and they should swap it withou question. so im told.

i think most of the jailbreaks on iphones are for older softwares as people have had time to crack them and if i remember right once they are jailbroke you cant then update through itunes not sure on iphone warranty though stu never really liked apple to much everthing with them is all about money apps overpriced handsets etc etc

you can upgrade through itunes but it takes the jailbreak off

i always said i wouldnt have an iphone because its full touch screen, i love my G1 to much lol had it over 4 years and change the cover or internals when something breaks lol
But this one came up at the right time and my mrs wanted to buy it for me so i said yes.

wish i had said no now tho lol she wouldnt of let me have the money for the car tho

i lost faith with apple, there macs are very good machines but once something goes wrong then it goes wrong bad, all my mac laptops all seem to gain logic board faults not long after the warranty expired which was more money to fix than to buy a new machine.

think the guy should have done a bit more reading before trying to do this, dont know if you'll be able to fix it for the price you can buy a new one for but im sure you will have 1 year warranty with apple so worth a try, good luck
