Right then ..

I got some gabs off bob 2 weeks ago ..

Now the ride is low compared to standard height .. very very
LOW ..
I'd say it's dropped the car by atleast 70mm

so i think im gonna try fitting the standard springs onto the gab shocks
Will this work? will it ride well ?

Also i didn't mark up which springs are front and rear when i stripped mine down to get the dust covers off ..
So do the taller springs go to the front or rear?
Also the way i fitted the lowering springs are tighter wound coils to the bottom is that correct ? because when i stripped them down the tighter wound coils were at the top .

iirc the taller ones are the back ones rob ... im not sure if they would suit well with the oe springs ie are the rod length shorter on the gabs ? If they are would it not have the adverse effect of like bottoming out im no suspension expert lol if its 70mm ish drop there is other spring kit that are 30/40 mm drop instead of 70 what springs are on the gabs mate ? And why did you take your old springs off the oe shocks ?

don't think the shocks are much shorter than standard .. but equally these springs are so low the car almost has no suspension .. did sit on the bump stops till i removed them ..

Yeah thats not really ideal if there is no difference or is minimal then sticking the oe springs shouldnt be a problem .

Gabs are desinged for standard length springs as far as i know because are they not a rally desing shock. ? Fitting to low a spring on them means no travel on rod so will handel worse or bottom out

This is correct, you also should not drop a road car anymore than 40mm from standard otherwise all the suspension arms are sitting at the wrong angle and screw up the handling and the shock absorbers are in the wrong area of travel to work effectively.

Taller ones on the back, and tighter wound coils go on the bottom.

yes that's true they are designed as rally shock so need to be able to travel, sitting on the bumpstop is no good.
tbh cant remember how the car sat which they came from so I would use the other springs

did you get pm I sent?
