Whine

I'm getting a whine when I'm accelerating what should I be looking for?

Noticeable if you rev when stationary

I had this on my last R while accelerating. Sounded like it had a supercharger
Was the transfer box!
You havent replaced any of the belts recently have you? If on too tight they can whine

I'll have to see if I hear it when reving
Will check belts
If transfer box would it be a bearing or something else

I had it on my old rs and was the syncros in the box ... sounded like a supercharger lol .... but worth checking belts etc before you get all doom and gloom could be bearing or something on ps or alternator

Is the missus in the car when accelerating?? if so trying removing and see if the noise persists

In all serious though is it a high pitch whine?

Hard to tell how high pitched it is cause its not very loud

If its just a belt you should be able to hear it with the car stopped and engine rev'd a little. If there's nothing to hear when stationary there then its maybe something a bit more insidious

No mate no tappets I built it myself with solid lifters how I miss the cvh so easy to work on

CVH oil sump is total bastard to fit and get oil tight.
I must've gone through at least 5 of those shitty elastic band type rubber gaskets just for it shat itself a week later in my xr3i. Loved the sound of it accelerating tho,

Yeah I feel your pain Neil it's was always that bastard gearbox side I had a xr3i mk4 and a rs turbo series 2 ....

Tbh i just hate working on those old Ford's...easy though they were to work on.
