Looking to sort out some rust on rear arches but want to remove the outside horizontal plastic trim, I'm presuming that I need to do this from inside the car ?
How do I get to the gromets holding the trim in place, if the rear inside card has to be removed how do I do it, and if I also need to remove the rear seats, how do I do that ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Do you mean that plastic bumper strip that runs across the middle of the doors and rear quarters mate?

Yes Woody, I'm presuming it's clipped in and not glued ?

If they've ever been off in the past there could be some sticky stuff in behind them. I'm sure (from memory) they're just popped on though

Sorry Mike, do you mean popped with plastic clips, or just glued on ?

I think normally popped on. When I had my last R painted however some of the trim was popped AND stuck on with Tigerseal as some of the clips had broken. Try pushing a thin knife, steel ruler or even some thin wire round the back of the strip and see if its stuck or at least, where the clip is

I think it's clipped in, will do as you say and run some fishing wire behind to check, if it's clipped then I see no way of getting to clips other than removing panel from inside which I think also means removing back seat as well !

You don't have to do that. I'm 99% sure the plastic strip has poppers which just push in/pull out of the bodywork. None of my interior was touched when my last R was sprayed and they had all the side strips off...I distinctly remember that as the whole interior was filthy afterwards!

I am having mine sprayed over the next few weeks. I am rather worried about the condition of the interior when I get it back!

it has a pop in clip at either end which is moulded into the trim.
The rest of the trim will be held in place with double sided adhesive tape (strip top & bottom) so just prise the popper free then heat with a hair dryer and carefully pull it off being careful not to bend it down or upwards

Thanks Dave, yes helps a lot, good luck with those arches ! Sorry Dave, on closer inspection of you photo, is that two poppers, one with hole on bodywork and the other filled more towards drivers door ?

I can only see 3 popper holes all the way down the car, one just infront of the rear wheel then one on the front of the door and one behind the front arch. So only one on each panel
