Engine control fuse keep blowing.
Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Took all the covers off around the dash and gauges etc
But cant see anything wrong.
I have stripped the loom in my shell and started to trace the green and white wire and blue and silver wire to that fuse.
The green and white wire goes into a junction of other green and white wires. I havent traced all of those yet.
The blue and silver wire joins into another wire. One goes to a plug that isnt used. The other one has been cut and I haven't managed to find the other end as yet.
Its to dark to see now so will carry on tomorrow now.
Anyone else know where these wires go to?

Also the passenger headlight stopped working a few weeks ago and I couldn't find out why so I bridged the live off the driverside headlight to get it working.
Rob has said his fuse blew a few times when his headlight plug melted.
I have changed the plug on the headlight but it still wouldn't work.
So no live feed to it for some reason?

Ive had this before on my last R when the maf wires shorted out and burnt a track in the ecu. I seem to remember a thick white wire going to the eccs relay next the the ecu from that fuse. Have you been rewiring anything at all apart from the headlight?
Just had a look at the ecu wiring diagram and that white wire also goes to the dropping resistor and maf too. You could try systematically disconnecting these and one by one plugging them in until the fuse pops again

I have just unplugged the afm and that other thing and the fuse still blew.
Un plugged the green relay next to the ecu and the fuse blew again.

If replace fuse does it blow straight away.
investigate engine fuse box and if no green corrosion or visual problem internally there visually look at loom run and concentrate on headlight wiring to start with. Does the fuse for passenger HLight have power and the first few inches of wire out to the headlight have power ? if so look at loom run for signs of damage, green corrosion or previous repair/mods and check for power at accessible locations .
I tend find concentrating on one known fault sometime finds or links to others for elec stuff like this, bit of luck and pretty standard tidy wiring makes life easier . Good luck .

Thanks B.
I have sorted my headlight issue out.
Took the stalk off the steering colum and took it apart and cleaned the contacts and the headlight now works Smile
Its lazy some times so guess I need to replace it.

The fuse is still blowing and I've checked all Conect ions on underside of fuse box.
The fuse pops as soon as I turn ignition on.

Spark plug spike

Spark plug spike

Stu, I had an issue with that fuse blowing ages ago, turned out the lambda sensor wire had been rubbing causing the wire to short out and blow the fuse?

Spike you saying that. I was looking at my wire on that just yesterday and the outer casing has worn through on a few places.
I looked and couldn't see any of the wires worn through but will have a better look now you've said.
Thank you.

Spot on mate. Thank you Smile Smile Smile

I have mate and fuse didn't blow Smile
Stripped the casing off the wires and they have been burnt by the manifold or turbo elbow and we're touching.
The wires Conected to the sensor are only on by a few strands so I need to get a new one.
Will it be okay to just keep it disconnected?
Thanks again everyone for the help Smile
