Funny this, I posted all this info on gti-roz forum on 15 Jan. Should have made a blanket for all forums.

Hey lads...

I asked the ebay seller ages ago and he said it was a FRONT diff.

I replied saying why does the Cusco catalogue say it is a REAR diff? And note you also have to change 1 or 2 of the tripod inner drive joints. Read Notes 6/7.

I got no reply.

Last week I wrote back politely to the ebay seller saying "please can you prove this is a front diff and I will buy one."

he replied saying (quite rude I thought) - "LOOK ON THE WEBSITE IT IS THERE IN ENGHISH!"

(He spelt English wrong not me!)

I have looked in to this further and now I have Nengun trying to figure it out and I have emailed Cusco USA and JAP. I will let you know what I hear.

I wrote back to the ebay seller politely with a link to the catalogue saying -"Look at page 227 it says quite clearly REAR. Please prove to me that this will fit the front and I will buy one."

http://www.cusco.co.jp/cusco_catalog/#227/z

To be honest lads I think the ebay seller is a prick and has got our hopes up. Fingers crossed but I fear the worst.

Let me know if you can figure otherwise?

cheers!

Adam

I would buy the modena, torsion type like modena better than Nismo or Cusco for most usages.
Modena smoother on the transmission too.
Sounds like this seller is a cock, hopefully you can confirm they are not fronts :-D

Right I have confirmation that the Cusco is rear only. Never has been front and never will be.

The ebay seller never got back to me but the guy from Nengun contacted cusco and got confirmation.

"Cusco LSD Rear for RNN14 - made to order 3 months.Note: When it fits on RNN14, the below side shaft 39711-64E06 needs to be installed But it was discontinued already. So customer has to find it with used parts.

Cusco does not make a front LSD for RNN14. "

Cusco one is £638.94 +shipping tax etc which by my calcs is about £850 delivered in UK.

The part number above is for a left hand inner tripod drive joint thing. I think you simply use a LH joint on both sides of the diff. Number 2 on this:
http://static.nissan4u.com/epc_img/25181462172948.png

Cusco don't have any but nissan might. And I'm pretty sure many owners will have them lying around spare and fairly worthless...

I have contacted Modena they said -

"Hi Adam,

We did make those diffs but unfortunately we sold out and I’m unsure at this stage if they will be remade. Maybe check back in a month or so after we have planned our production schedule.

Kind Regards,

Emily"

I wrote back and asked if I can generate some interest will this help your descision? I will let you know what she says.

I will start a separate thread so other people will pick up on it.

cheers,
Adam

Anyone tried the Cusco rear diffs? It's good there easily available.

Saying that the nismo rears are still easy to get also.

Was there a thread some where that said that on the tarmac the car was slower with the diff's and fuel consumption is higher? They are good for winter, have had lot's of fun in thick snow but 3 locks on tarmac....
