well as said in earlier post im gonna build another fully track prepped R but this one will be a little different as itll be running a pro charger as opposed to turbo, were going for a rotrex 650bhp capable unit after doing some research and making a few phone calls it should all work ok.
theres quite a bit of fabricating and stuff involved though to make it fit so will be an interesting project!
ive spoken to ed and he doesnt think the mappings gonna be a prob with the nisstune

im also reshelling the car into one we have down here with a full fia approved cage
the engines already just been removed from my old car so il be pulling that apart for inspection and a refresh as its taken quite a caning in the 2500 miles since being built
il also be running a charge cooler as opposed to normal front mount setup

if it all comes together as planned then this should be quite an awsome track car with a huge spread of power on tap and next to no lag.
no doubt il hit a few probs on the build up but then thats to be expected, i just hope the end result all pays off

will update this shortly as engine will be pulled apart later this week ready for inspection and refresh. still waiting on delivery of the procharger which seems to be taking for ever to get here Sad
anyway il update with photos with engine strip etc

car will be built up as a fast track car this year and if all is good and reliable then may race the car in nippon challenge either as a late entry this year or the following season once all the safety equipment is added and assuming all is good and reliable

a lot of work to be done prior to that though with the build up
should be a very unique car when completed

finally got it delivered on friday and all looks good with the unit

never had a chance to get any pics but i can see how its a 650bhp capable unit Cool
once i come back off holiday il update this thread with pics as the build progresses
the main problem will be getting it to fit so il need to get my tape measure out and start making a few calculations
it wont be simple but hopefully will all be worth it in the longrun Very Happy

cheers mark!

ok little update as will be persevering with the car again shortly inbetween other jobs.

as said got the charger in
heres a couple pics
new track car - Page 2 001xxs
new track car - Page 2 002okd

as you can see it has a fairly large impellor (exuivelant to probably a 3078 garrett
im guessing on the pulley size as this was the one it came with so not sure how that will work out power wise untill ive tried her but can be made bigger or smaller if needed!

il be going over the engine this week so hopefully that should all be back together by next week sometime with new bearings etc installed.

im buying an rb gearbox for this car which should give it ballistic acceleration (assuming it does not break and can handle the power of the charger.

thats about it for the time being
will update as we go

im devoid of blood leighton as i only feed of a night so not mine but il lick it off lol

no not tried it yet but in theory it should fit where the ac pump would have been once i get some brackets mocked up, the fitting of it will be the hard bit as its not a small unit so may even have to adapt the front cross member if its too wide.
il also be running a charge cooler so need to find space for that lot too as well as the attain swirlpot
think itll be a crammed engine bay

Sounds like its going to be a fiddley bugger to get in there. ...does it come with mounting brackets that you can adapt to fit or totaly have to start from scratch? doesnt the rb box top out quickly though?

no im gonna have to start from scratch with brackets as theres no kit made for sr20 block.

yep the rb will top out at 125 but tbh you will never really get beyond that speed on most uk tracks unless its silverstone or bedford autodrome
im aiming for the 40-120 acceleration time which is much more fun and purposefull on a track

Does that mean your going all A-team on this. ...cue the music and you bust out the garage with a supercharger bolted on and a machine gun. ..lol. .. Cant wait to see this going then shes going to be a quick one all that power and no lag. ...what ecu will you be running on it.

running it with nissune or possibly pfc
ed reckons he will have no probs mapping it with nistune so if he can do it il stick with that

as said leighton its all pie in the sky with how the car will perform as theres nothing to really go by other than some crude maths which ive done lol
one things for certain though is that it should have a very high torque reading....even if the car makes silly high power i dont want any more than 400bhp so will be governed down or il only end up ripping the gearbox apart plus engines life will be short lived on track and not got the time to keep building engines up for it

Well its still nice to see something fresh being done. ... Just out of intrest is there a way you can govern the amount of power a supercharger makes as in like the tubbys with a boost controler bleed offs etc. not really researched into superchargers.

seeing as ive had very little time lately what with all the court summonses and everything Laughing
i thought i would go up the workshop today and start assembling my engine again
got a bit carried away with the refresh and ended up stripping the whole thing apart Rolling Eyes
stuck some new big ends and mains bearings in it
cleaned all the block, crank and pistons up
then re-assembled the bottom end

the engines still all in very good order (covered 2000 track miles) which im quite surprised at really seeing as its taken a bit of a hammering.

anyway heres some pics for you's as i know you like pics Very Happy

block which has all been smoothed out internally
new track car - Page 2 001yuk

as you can see the honing marks are still there and no wear at all
new track car - Page 2 003viu

je pistons i bought from kieron with extra thick crowns still in perfect order after a clean
new track car - Page 2 002ttq

crank still in good order with no hairline cracks
new track car - Page 2 004onyo

and the toils of my days work, all bottomend bolted back together
new track car - Page 2 005bmz

want to hurry up and get this done so i can fab up the brackets for the procharger to be fitted Very Happy

well another saturday and a bit more done today
the heads now all back on there (although good job i noticed a couple of the spray jets in the drip bars were blocked which has worn 2 rocker arms so ive replaced those

next bits the exciting bit of trying to make the charger fit where ac pump would have been, will need to use both my brain cells to work that one out lol
