Looks very nice
Did you reshell it from parts from your old car?

It has the engine, struts and some of the interior from the old car. Plus a handful of brackets etc as this one was partially stripped out.

Might swap the passenger door and tailgate over as they are better on the old car.

Needs some attention to the drivers arch but otherwise the shell is in excellent condition for its age, it's an H with the vin under 1000.

Dirt/water. Just had a quick wash to get the years of storage dust off it.

Aye I'm very happy with the job they have done on the wheels and think I've chose the right colour. Will suit the red car when I get that finished.

M.O.T passed today, alternator belt snapped on the way there so that made things a bit interesting..

Hopefully can tax in a couple of days.

Was good to get out on proper roads to drive it, polybushes and roll bars make a massive difference to how the car reacts on the road, I almost thought something was wrong with the suspension it was that different.

Brakes are excellent even though not fully bedded in, Big 330mm+ kits must be phenomenal.

Seem to have a wee niggle with the cooling system, probably a bit of trapped air, a duff thermostat or the gauge is just iffy. Gauge only gets up about 1/4 of the way and the coolant pipes do quite a bit of gurgling when the car is turned off. A job for tomorrow.

Does look nice that & a proper GTiR fan speedy recovery.
!6" rims look just right & handle right too for the road.
What do you think of the Ksports for quality, they seem well finished !
300mm discs is about all need really for the road & with 6 pots & decent pads I would expect braking as much fun as accelerating. Have fun .

Mr B, Very happy with the K sports, seem very well made and stop very well too. My only gripe is the logo on the caliper looks gash but that doesn't really matter.

Been quite busy recently, painted front and rear bumpers, changed the tailgate for a better one, tidied up a few other bits and bobs. Expecting my v5 to come through tomorrow so in preparation I treated it to a wash and wax, paintwork really lets the car down, needs a machine polish but I'll do that when I have the drivers arch sorted.

Other things on the list to sort out are an engine bay tidy up, especially the rocker cover, I hate the white one. Intercooler pipes need made in alloy too, these are steel and the fit is a bit iffy.

A few pics from today. If anybody knows any history of the shell I would be interested to know. Last on the road in 2008 and I think it came from Birmingham.

Yeh I know what you mean on the brand logo design.
Had a look at the kits on some online suppliers & that logo caught my eye :-/
Not that cheap either ... Least they made/work well & that main thing to start with ..

They are quite pricey, I was lucky lucky and managed to get 2nd hand but zero mileage for around £600 with ferodo ds2500, about half price.

Glenn is selling his 330mm 8 pot kit that has done little mileage for £575 which again is a bargain...and the logo on the 8 pots doesn't look as bad!

Finally got it taxed this morning and out for a good run on the open road!

Looks like the thermostat is goosed so picked up a new one, a job to do along side the det sensor.

Drivers seat recline is also knackered. The seat kept falling down! Time to pull a spare out.

Apart from that all seems well, many rattles but she drives great and will hopefully drive better when det sensor is changed.

Very nice R. Are they team heko wind deflectors?

They are climair wind reflectors, about £45 a pair.

Out for it's first outing in 2015 today, huge thanks to Chris at Dynatune for coming down on a Sunday to sort out my map even if we don't quite know yet what has caused my issues.

So overfueling sorted for now, running much better, session on the rollers in a couple of weeks for a full check over and map.

Went with a 10w40 oil instead of a 10w50 oil, better oil pressure now.

Ditched the white rocker cover too for a more sensible black number.

So good result today and off to a good start this year. Bring on the better weather!  thumbsup

Mapped yesterday, running great now no more overfuelling. Cool

Leakdown, compression and I/c leak test carried out with good results.

382bhp@1.6 bar, didn't want to take it any further at this point.

3" exhaust and ported manifold next on the cards I think.

That's not bad, quite decent power that & should still be reliable/usable.

23Grim_d's gtir Empty Re: Grim_d's gtir 18th February 2015, 5:00 pm

grim_d

Yes happy with the result, would probably have seen 400bhp if we had pushed it to 1.8bar+.

Exhaust and tidy up I/C piping and think I will stop spending money on this one and focus on my other one.

Pretty usable but not ideal for the slow speed stuff. Copes fine though.
