Removing the gearbox, Is it easier to lift the engine slightly or better to leave in the mounts as is ?

Hi guys, im slowly starting to plan my clutch fork replacement mission and im just wondering if its easier to shift the engine abit and lift it up slightly or is it better to just leave it in the mounts? I wouldnt want to remove the engine entirely but just undo the mounts and lift it up etc.

why would you want to lift it up?
the gearbox comes out through the bottom of the car so if anything you need to drop it slightly if doing it with engine in situ

Agree. Put a axle stand or jack under the Ali sump & drop gearbox side slightly. Have fun if your doing it on the floor.......

Thanks guys, well i can get access to a engine crane and i heard that there are some bastard bolts to undo etc so i thought maybe shifting the engine abit to get more access would help

Yeah its going to be pretty fun just doing it on my driveway, been waiting for some decent weather to come but i guess its going to be a while still ;//

ditch the crane you don't need it

all you need is a couple of descent trolley jacks, axle stands and a lump of wood around 4ft long bit of 3x3 or similar will be fine to span behind front arb points

bastard bolts are easier with 2 people, use a spanner on the bolt, someone underneath the car with another spanner hooked on to it providing pressure, then just give it a few hits from topside and the bolts will come loose
