Hey all

Looking for some advice

Had a bit of a scary on way to work, brakes failed on the motorway.

Once able to get to verge, got bonnet open and no fluid, got wheels off and 3/4 inch gash in the hose from caliper. Its the small 4-6 inch hose that connects to another hose that goes inside the engine bay.

Anyways, looking for uprated ones, probably Goodridge going by Ebay offerings but can anyone advise on usefulness or suggest alternatives?

Ta

P.S I do have pics of refurb etc now that I have it back and will post them up later

Im renewing all the brake pipes on my R and was thinking of replacing the hoses too (even though they look ok, maybe the fittings are a bit rusty).
There's loads of choice on Ebay which is great, but i aint got a clue what to do;
Stick with the original rubber hoses?
Replace with new zinc plated or stainless steel hose fittings?
If so what brand fits best with minium faff?
Cheers

I've always used Hel Performance, they offer an off the shelf kit for the standard brake set-up and they can custom make a set if you have different calipers and specific requirements, also the hoses and fittings are all stainless, so there are no issues with corrosion, and as an added bonus if you are in the trade they give good discounts.

I dont know if they still make them but, ive got wezmoto lines on mine. 60 quid, stainless fittings and you could even choose the colour / appearance of the plastic sheathing if you wanted. Good quality kit imo and fitted perfectly

Just got bend them right and not forget put fittings on or on wrong way round lol :-)
Is a cock getting them just right in bend angle and length, flare fairly easy/consistent with the compact 1 die tools .
copper nickel pipe way go as the copper is awful long term .
Be sure get short threaded to end fittings same as originals, had a subaru in that had used the collar fittings and blew line off as only caught on few threads .
Be nice when all done ...

Yeah, I read a few posts about using wrong end fittings and I reckon it'll be safer to just use my current one which are fine

The fittings pretty easy come across via online suppliers and as long as match it full thread can't go far wrong.
Is possible get them in brass and stainless, stainless seems hard get full thread and had cut down some collar type when I used them on a job .
oem fitting quality good and probably better than new ebay steel offerings, i've reused good old fittings before, sometimes best way go .
