Went to see Ed today.. Last time on rollers it managed 256 bhp @ 1.45 bar at the wheels ... Now with a few extra mods and Ed tweaking the map i got 262 bhp ( i think will check in morning )@ 1 bar... Defo not less than 260 i know that much...works out at 310.7 @ the flywheel . And 285ft lb... Made up that I've got more power for less boost
. Must be the extraflowing exhaust and generally my skills under the bonnet. Lol

Good outcome then, why did you stop @ 1bar?

Throw up your RR graph when you get a minute Wink

Ed reckons that either the turbo is on it's limits or the actuator is weak .. didn't want to try and push it anymore .. I'd already told him that i wanted it safe and that im not looking for max power ..
It actually peaks at 1.2 bar but levels out at 1bar and when max power is reached it's at 1bar.

The turbo is probably 12 years old . Not done huge mileage on it but was at 1 bar for 10 years then 1.45 for the last 2 ..
How long will a turbo last? Question

Looks impressive, your power really shoots up, shame your torque drops off quick, similar to mine Crying or Very sad Your boost graph is similar to mine as well. Does it feel better to drive? Cant wait to get mine fixed and remapped, reckon ill only be a few hp behind you Razz

your only getting 15% transmission loss?

Yeah that graph is a bit uneven and yeah 15% loss is good, mine was 22.5% Rolling Eyes

Doesnt it make it about 27% loss based on the last graph ???

what is the normal power loss from drivetrain is it a % or is it a set amount of BHP ...

surely if a gtir had 1000bhp for example and you use the 25% rule how on earth could it use 250bhp to turn the box?
surely it must be a set ish amount of power i.e 60bhp

I work out the last graph as 21.5% loss. Transmission loss depends on a variety of things:

Oils used in the gearbox, diffs etc - thick oil requires more hp to turn gears in etc
Condition and setup of components - i guess an example would be if your gearbox is old and worn that could cause more of a loss than a freshly built one?
Also other things such as a caliper slightly sticking, not enough to create a problem but any resistance/drag is using hp.
Not sure but the fact the flywheel is a lightweight i think would have an affect as its less rotational mass to have to spin = less hp to bring it up to speed?

Edit - pretty much what i have said is in that article Embarassed

only difference in spec between the two sessions was
560 injectors instead of standard
Thinner engine oil 10w-50 fuchs titan instead of 10w-60 millers
Apexi air filter instead of hks mushroom
pipes all lagged now
and custom airbox fitted
and full 3 inch exhaust

Also the brakes are now perect , They used to catch a little on one front wheel

Also quick question would one of these work with my wideband to allow me to change the angle into the exhaust , Currently goes straight into the side of exhaust 3 o'clock

Cant help you there but with regards to your mods all except the brakes are engine related not transmission, so dont count towards the loss only towards your improved output.

Just been reading the other post on the oc but your happier now ed has confirmed the fly figures were wrong. Very good power and once the turbo or actuator allows it to hold 1.2 that car is going to be an animal

Yeah happy enough.. If it turns out its 330 @ the fly wheel it's great power for a standard ish turbo at 1 bar.. Only mod to turbo is a 360 thrust bearing.... Reckon if it could hold boost like it did last time it would see prob 350 bhp..

without putting a damper on things rob, ive never ever seen a car with stock tubby make that much power (normally between 290-310 with 1bar @fly) on a hybrid t28.

despite that if drivabilities all good and she pulls hard low down with minimal lag then the bhp graph i would take with a pinch of salt (although it may well be correct)the most ive ever seen a stock turbo make is 338bhp at 1.45bar after around that figure the cfm will just not allow any more no matter what boost shes running at

having said that you do have a very good setup and nice breathing system which a lot dont have with stock type tubby!
