Thanks guys.
Bob I still carnt get in touch with the guy about the cam shaft but stu on the OC has said he will sort it when his back from work in Brazil.
I ended up buying a brand new hks cam. Valve clearances seem ok but will probs get bigger when the cams are run in.
I will reshim the head after the run in period

Not yet Pete. Hopefully get the cams run in on Sunday. I am going down to bobs tommorow to pick up standard ecu & injectors & Glenn has lent me a maf so were all good to go.
Need some fuel also. It's got little in the tank but that would have gone off by now.
The plan was to get it run in or at least 300 miles on it before North Weald but that isn't going to happen.

She's running. I've started on the running in.
No leaks etc. seems a nice quiet engine at the min with good oil pressure.
I'm upto 200 miles now & all seems well. But my good is it boring running a engine in. Had a aston Martin try it on with me up a long duel carriage way...... I was so ready to drop a gear or two but thought what's the point. Off he went.
800 miles more to do then it's time to refit the nistune, 700 injectors & z32 & get it mapped.

First oil change after 10 miles. Some may think this is over kill but this engine has had a fair bit of machine work & I'm not chancing anything picking up.

New gauges all in & working.
Using a relay to switch these as find this much safer.

Nice work James
Yeah don't be tempted to bury your foot into the Axminster lol
Just ain't worth it no matter what others may say
Don't pussy foot about with it but at the same time don't nail it either and as I know to well it's very easy to get lured into racing someone  Laughing

Agree bob. First 60 miles were done below 3,000rpm but using lots of hills.
Now I'm up to 200miles I'm using more rpm with no boost. (Just driving it like a normal car without the boost)
By 400 to 500miles I will bring a little boost in & drive a little harder

That's the kiddy James
Slowly slowly catchy monkey  Wink

Had a guy in today buying an engine from us as some place in Peterborough built him an engine which blew up after 650 miles but in all fairness to him he said he got drawn in to ragging it and ended up with melted pistons for his troubles so cost him dearly
Just ain't worth the gamble!
And your doing the right thing with oil changes as mineral oil is relatively cheap so a few changes is peanuts during the first few miles when the initial cutting in is taking place

Agree. I was using halfords mineral but I hate paying £20 for 5 litres of shit oil. I've now found a company that supply 20l of mineral running in oil for £40
Changed oil again tonight at 200 miles & swapped to this other stuff & it defo seems smother. I've just been out in the car & I'm at 300 miles now.
I only said to my misses on Saturday I'd like to do 300 miles this week & that's done & it's only Tuesday  Very Happy

I reckon engine will be run in by end of next week. All going well.
