hi there i was wondering if anyone can help me . I have been trying to get handbrake cables for my gtir with no luck so far. can anyone point me in the right direction ? i have blue print part numbers for them but my local car part supplier says they are showing as discontinued. I haven't tried nissan yet but not sure if they will still stock them. cheers in advance for any help.

I have some decent used ones i would sell.
Not sure you can get all new sections anymore.
Nissan are around £70 each section.

herth & Buss (Jakoparts) did them as well .
I'll try put up part numbers (you'll find one thread on it in parts wanted section)

Blueprint ones will be old on shelf stock only, if hunt around online & ebay you should find front section easy enough & possibly one rear .
Best affordable bet is good used but will add Herth & Buss details tomorrow if get time tomorrow .

Have you got a link to them?
Pretty sure you could only get one side from blueprint now and they were out of stock.
You sure they are for the gtir that you have seen?

Rear right is tricky one but if hunt about with all part numbers you may find source in your area or shipping available .
Can find rear right listed on online parts store (google ADN146170) but may find actually have no stock.
Could be worth having a word with ICP & supplying them the part numbers as they maybe able get them direct from Japan/manufacturer sources !

Just based on an assumption, whats more likely to stretch, the front or the rear or it doesn't really matter?

I think most trouble for uk likely be corrosion related & sticky cables.
Lot of issue if handbrake too high & adjustment run out on front cable is fact it the rear caliper pistons not auto adjusting correctly .

front takes more load but rears are longer & not straight run so stretch can be greater, I never had or seen cable issue, If cables physically good I would probably mod font cable to reduce slack & bring nut adjuster back in range, 2 I dealt with which had handbrake issue both came down to rear caliper piston adjuster mechanism not working, if tighten it up & comes slack again then generally caliper auto adjust issue & pistons sitting off disc too far or handbrake lever snail cam worn or turned to mush from corrosion, cables here tend keep well as dry climate & we don't use handbrakes much lol, when parking in malls, work car parks, residential parking we normally leave off & chock wheel so cars can be rolled by security to allow others in & out (parking is like a puzzle block game here lol)

As B says seizure of cables is a massive problem in the uk on all vehicles and some of the pattern parts are shit my brothers Astra van had 3 in no time. I just done a one on my R for its mot was rear driver side but was well seized. But car had stood a couple year earlier

Disconnect cables from front and test each one by pulling ends back and forth to find seized/sticky one.
Take them off and hang them up and run release oil into them or soak in release oil and if works clean up and use some waxoil diluted with release oil to protect them a bit before final assembly.
If spend time hunting web and calling factors you may get lucky on a rear right, I see one online UK company listing it available but may find not once paid ! Could be done for under £60 and possibly under £50 If do find right Blueprint cable and quality on those good too.
Worth checking rear callipers too as nice handbrake needs them in A1 order .

Haha na I only did that sort of stuff in PartyPetes car before I sold it, launched it loads and had loads of mutton sluts in there. The pile cream helped stop the dash cracking though it was quite useful.

Good info! Maybe I'll just mod the front cable, easier lol.

You know the hand brake is good when it holds the Macca's trays under the back wheels of your fwd daily driver Laughing
