My nissan sunny GTI-R 1993

Current specs:
- FMIC
- 3" exhaust from turbo
- Electromotive engine management
- Electromotive coilpack with moroso ignition leads
- HKS iridium spark plugs
- Turbsosmart boost tee
- Adjustable dumpvalve
- Walbro fuelpump 255 l/h
- Innovate LC-1 wideband controller
- Open airfilter K&N

Deatschwerks - 550cc injectors

Does these upgrades require big modifications? or is it more or less bolt on?
What about the compatibility with these parts?  
Is it top feed injectors on the Sunny GTI-R or side feed?

Any other upgrade recommendations? What turbo to choose in a +/- 350bhp setup?

never heard of one so know nothing about them but assume you have someone to map it? as it will obviously need mapping.

injectors are topfeed
and if i were you i would use a cosworth mls head gasket

hks plugs are just rebranded denso iridiums but double the price so wouldn't bother with those

Thanx for the response

Embarassed Electrocompotive = electromotive, i was far far away when i wrote it.
Just bought the car, it hasn`t been mapped after installation of the eletronic fuel injection system, but i will ofcourse do this as soon as possible Smile
The HKS plugs were already installed.

Regarding the injectors, should i just go for a bigger type like 700cc or is 550cc big enough for these specs?

ah right i see

ok assuming your only looking for 350-360bhp (dependant upon turbo your running) youll only need 550-560cc injectors they will cope easily at that power level.

don't know whether you want new or secondhand but i have a good s/h set in stock, if needed just drop me a pm

If you are 100% sure that 350 BHP is your upper limit (and you'll not be tempted to venture further up the scale), then as Bob says, 550-560cc injectors will work just fine and keep your injector pulsewidths manageable. You can source 550-560cc injectors off a secondhand Mitsubishi Evo if you want a cheap alternative to big name brands. Just please note that:

Evo MDL510 injectors have a yellow connector and are single jet items (DO NOT USE THESE!)
Evo MDL560CC injectors have a maroon/brown connector and are dual jet items (YES USE THESE!)

So when sourcing Evo injectors, make sure they are the top-fed ones with maroon/brown connectors. Also, if you venture much higher than 350 BHP you'll soon run into the ceiling of the standard MAF. Most people opt to replace the OE MAF with one from a Z32 (i.e. a twin-turbo 300ZX). These MAFs are good for around 500 BHP, but a cheaper alternative would be the Q45 MAFs which you can pick up relatively cheaply. They can't handle as much air flow as the Z32s, but will happily handle 350-400 BHP.

Note that when you change the injectors and/or MAF, you will also need to adjust the 'k' constant within your ECU's fueling tables to make sure everything works in harmony.

Some great info there Dave am not hijacking this threat or any thing but one question about the maf's are the 300zx twin turbo and 300zx N/A maf's the same or different

I'm not 100% sure, but I think all Z32 300zx's (twin turbos, N/A's, and automatics) use the same MAF, specifically an N62 MAF. Some earlier models (and Nissan Maximas) seem to use the N60 MAF which has an upper limit of around 350-400 BHP, rather than the 500 BHP normally associated with the N62 model. I think some sellers, particularly on eBay try to fob off N60 MAFs as "300zx MAFs" to try and get people to buy them assuming they'll be the Z32 (i.e. N62) MAFs, while they'll most likely be the earlier N60 models. Just be careful when ordering one and make sure it's the N62 model.

What do you think about the rest of the shopping list? Procams? Any experiences? Should i also upgrade the throttle body? ?

For BHP around the 350 mark, most people swear by the HKS 264 cams. They are reasonably common (perhaps Bob might even have a set?) so you can normally pick up a set cheaper than you'll find the Tomei ones.

Again, for 350 BHP I wouldn't bother touching the throttle bodies. The quad throttle bodies are quite good in OE form, and I can't imagine 350 BHP will bother them.

Talked with customer service on Deatscwerks, they recommended 800cc injectors for a 350-400hp setup, instead of the 500cc i ordered.
But im not there yet, maybe i got around 300hp now, are 800cc to big then, and how does installing to big injectors effect the performance?

I suppose they are saying this to allow for a little overhead - better to have larger injectors running at 50% duty compared to smaller injectors running flat-out. The standard 444cc injectors can normally flow enough fuel for 330-350 BHP before the pulsewidths (and duty cycles) become too large. In reality, you could change the standard injectors for 1200cc items, so long as you told the ECU you had done so (i.e. by changing the 'k' constant and scaling some of the enrichment tables). You basically need injectors which can flow enough fuel for your BHP goals. If you are below those goals, then the same injectors will have an easier time since they will only be flowing a fraction of their upper limit.

all depends on compression ratio you want to run with and what boost your planning on running at.
also if the block is decked and head skimmed will all be relative factors in determining hg thickness.

Ok, in this case its a original block, running on some higher boost and guess the compression ratio is original spec.

well if your going to fit an mls head gasket I would at least get the head skimmed as surfaces need to be 100% straight and flat.
so baring that info in mind I would go for a 1.5mm thickness if your running a 2860-2871r sized turbo at high boost

Hi Fred, the LC1 cable is routed through the firewall on the passenger side, the com cable i got in the glovebox and the
instrument is mounted beside the boost gauge in the center console.
Im currently offshore, but i can send you some pictures when i get back home Smile

Just to add if you get the head skimmed you want to mention it to the shop that you are using a mls gasket, as in most cases the ra (roughness average) needs to be a lot smoother.

Most times you will get away with it depending how rough it is, but a mls gasket is not as forgiving to surface finish as a stock type gasket.
